Chinese and Japanese cultures have traditionally devoured long noodles on new year’s day because they are said to bring long standing good luck and opportunity. Our version with Winter greens from the Appleseeds Teaching garden are certain to at the very least make you feel lucky.
HIGH SOUTH HOPPIN' JOHN SOUP
Humans are superstitious on many levels, and food is no exception. Every new year brings hope for prosperity and longevity, and we love to exercise our expectations for good luck through great food...from all over the world. We start with southern heritage black eyed peas, an earthy legume reminiscent of small coins; and of course we can’t have black eyed peas without a golden cornbread.

THREE NOG NIGHT Crème Brûlée
Crème Brûlée and Egg Nog are truly two of our favorite things…especially this time of year. So, we thought it only fitting that we combine these two masterwork delights into one super dessert. One will do the trick, but if you devour three, expect the Holiday Sugar Plum Fairies to still be dancing in your head the morning after!
Seeded Black Lentils with Greek Yogurt and Mint
Onward and upward in 2021! What a crazy year we’ve had, so we have no problem subscribing to foods that have been foretold to bring good luck and prosperity. This new year’s vegetarian recipe is the bomb, plus Lentils are traditionally served on New Year's Eve after midnight and are said to bring good luck because of their coin like shape. Cha-ching!
